The Sacral Tippy Toe Opener in Labor

The strongest, greatest force and biggest tool you can use to support your bodies progress in labor is gravity.

Next to oxygen, oxytocin and physical/emotional support.

Many pregnant people in labor rise up onto their toes instinctively when they reach 8-10cm.

THE SACRAL TIPPY TOE OPENER

Whether you are standing, sitting or laying down you CAN get up on your toes in labor. This technique opens the brim of the pelvis located in the sacral and helps baby engage and descend, avoiding ceserean.

Babies normally engage by 38 weeks of pregnancy. Subsequent babies may engage before labor begins, or will usually engage with early labor contractions.

Engagement means the widest part of the baby’s head has dipped below the entrance to the pelvis (the brim). Standing and allowing the belly to hang forward (lordosis) keeps the brim open enough for the average baby to engage nicely. However, lack of engagement can be a cause for cesarean birth when labor contractions can’t get the baby into the brim of the pelvis. Baby has to get into the pelvis to get through the pelvis.

Instinctively many birthing people end up on their toes to have more control and stronger force during the pull of gravity inviting your baby downward, similar to during constipation, this actually helps open the brim by creating balanced sacral control, you feel more intune, stronger and connected to your birthing process using this wise tippy toe technique.

By taking the pressure, weight and energy off of the accupressure points in the foot for pelvis, mother earth and the lower abdomen this releases stress and creates relief from those areas, supporting centered focus and relaxation.
