Tuesday July 23 2024 my water broke during the night . It trickled all night long and in and out of contractions. All into the next day it trickles. I had set up my birth space that evening as contractions came I moved through them on my workout ball, resting on the floor, through prayer. Till they subsided and I went back to bed.
Wednesday, I continued leaking, the day was pretty chaotic, my daughter had a play date and the air conditioning was being installed. We continue on just like another day.
Finally my husband came home from work after supper I asked my daughter if she would want to decorate my belly before baby came. She was so excited, we grabbed the markers and she drew pictures. After she went for a walk with her dad. I rested and worshipped in my birth space, listening to praise music, singing, praying, reading the Bible verses I placed on the wall.Moving through positions that felt good as contractions started picking upBy 7:30 contractions were becoming more frequent. I texted my husband to come home from their walk.
We took the next hour before our daughter’s bed time to snuggle and chat as a family of 3, our list time together. My husband did hip squeezes on me as we all connected.
husband put our daughter to bed for the night and contractions continued to progress. We agreed for my husband to have a nap at 9 and I was going to jump in the shower to get relief. As the contractions progressed I could feel a pain on the top of my pubic bone. I had never had that before in my labour previously, I assumed something of this babies was hung up on my pubic bone, as I was in the shower I began to moved into deep lunges, have hot water cascade over my belly and hips, trying to get release and relaxation. All the labour was in my tummy on my pubic bone and the shower just couldn’t get hot enough for me.
Some worry crept in, but I took it to God and I knew I was at peace. I asked myself what would the hospital do for me at this point, did those answers feel right for me.
And mostly there was no way I would get into a car at this point and I felt like I and my baby were still safe.Just after 10 I called my husband to come get me and I knew I was in transition.
Contractions had picked up, they were absolutely intense beyond belief. I don’t even know how to describe them. There was so much stomach pressure on my pubic bone and contractions were constant back to back no stopping.
Nothing I had learnt for birth relief was helping because it was all about back relief when I needed stomach relief.
I had my husband grab the rebozo and wrap it around then when a contraction came lift my belly up. This helped enough for me to catch my breath.
There was no sign of contractions stopping.I would lay down for a second or two on my side and a contraction would go full force it felt crippling to my whole body that I would have to figure out how to change position or get up onto all 4 to get the rebozo relief.
Then the FER kicked in, and that was wild experience. I also has never experienced that sensation in my first birth.
It overtook my body. But I was able to slow it down. I could feel his head descending and I was able to slow and breath through that. My husband told me when babies head was out.As I was on all 4s at this point I leaned back so my bum was as close to my heels and possible and the next thing I know baby hit the floor. And the rush of hormones I could feel moved through my body. I took a second to grab babe, catch my breath after that wild ride, as I held babe to my chest. Baby cried. we checked what baby was and it was a Boy! Born somewhere around 1:30am the 25th
We woke my daughter up because she asked to be woken up when baby came.
She was in awe. We all were, and I continued sitting on the floor my placenta plopped out and I said “that’s it!”
My husband goes “what’s it”
I say”Birth is done, the placenta is here”
After that my husband cleaned us up, placed the placenta in a bowl and moved to the bed. At that point I felt the need to get the cord cut an have it all done, my husband prayed over us again and cut the cord . Clamped it. And we all snuggled into bed as a family of 4.
All Glory to God.
