"My name is Breanna and my husband here is Aaron! On the right is my sweet mama who’s 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫! ⁣ ⁣ We are over the moon excited, but it took a long hard road to get here. After many many years of infertility and loss, we had our doctor come to us and say that ultimately my uterus was incapable of growing a child. ⁣ ⁣ On our path to become parents, I had a few miscarriages, and one that required a D&C (procedure to remove pregnancy) and I developed a condition called Ashermans Syndrome. Ashermans Syndrome is where bands of scar tissue form inside your uterus. Most commonly from a D&C procedure. Google will tell you it’s rare, but that’s not true. It mostly goes undiagnosed. I had no idea this could happen prior to going in to the operating room that day, and I am still devastated by it. ⁣ ⁣ My mama came to me multiple times offering to carry for us. My response? I laughed. “you crazy!?” lol... I did not think that was even possible. My mom, Julie, is 51 years old and had already been through menopause! But she was persistent. One thing about my mom is when she sets her mind to something, she goes for it. She’s a hardcore athlete, who’s completed multiple Boston marathons and super into heath and fitness. She sets a goal and she goes for it. ⁣ ⁣ Since we already had been through IVF, and my husband and I had no issues creating embryos with my egg and his sperm. Half the work was done. Our embryos were frozen already waiting for us. Once our fertility doctor was on board, he prepared my moms body to carry, taking her out of menopause through hormone therapy, and the rest fell into place. ⁣ ⁣ Julie is 36 weeks with our baby girl! Her first grandchild! This has been the wildest ride of our lives. We are so grateful for my mom and that we were given this opportunity...I don’t think there’s ever been a morning I don’t wake up and pinch myself. ⁣ ⁣ Thanks for joining us on this adventure! Most mothers give their children the gift of life once, when they're born. But one mom from Illinois is the surrograndma for her daughter - Carrying her future grand daughter. 

At 51 years old, top health and her third pregnancy, Julie Loving is full term as the gestational surrogate for her daughter, Breanna Lockwood.

After several rounds of IVF and suffering multiple miscarriages, including her last loss when she and her mother/surrogate became pregnant at the same time.

When Breanna's doctor told her she and her husband might want to look into surrogacy , surrograndma Julie was already on board and encouraging the opportunity & possibility of being the carrier.

"I just kept telling her no and kept turning her down pretty frequently, only because I didn't think it was a possibility with my mom's age, and my mom was actually menopausal," Lockwood told CBS News. "So, as far as I knew about reproductive science, that didn't add up, that wouldn't work."

Mothers will do anything for their children.

The Wombsisterhood had the honor of interviewing this divine family and took the opportunity to ask some validating and deeper questions about their journey into and through motherhood for both Breanna & Her Mother Julie.

The Exhibition of Pregnancy How has this pregnancy experience gone? 

So far the pregnancy has gone extremely smooth, even to the point that our OBGYN has called it a "textbook" pregnancy! So we are extremely grateful.

Have Covid restrictions had an impact?

It absolutely has. I think its really impacted everyone. We have been extremely cautious. My husband hasnt been able to attend any of the pregnancy appointments. So its been a bit of a bummer but we are just staying positive. How has this experience felt? (Mentally, Physically, Emotionally)

The pregnancy has been amazing. We have had a lot of fun with everything and enjoying every milestone. But it wasnt always a joy. Infertility and IVF were some of the darkest days of my life. Times where i thought i wouldnt get to be a mom. So the trauma that came from that place made it hard to be excited in the beginning, since i was always waiting for bad news. Once we had made it to a far place in the pregnancy i was able to let go and start to enjoy it. 

What have been the biggest challenges?

We are fortunate to say the pregnancy hasnt had any big challenges. I would say Covid has made some of the exciting parts of pregnancy a bit of a bummer. But really getting out of my own head about miscarriage and loss in the beginning was my biggest hurdle. How have you held space for the unknown?

Im really working on trying not to worry about the "what ifs" and trying to enjoy each milestone.

How are you feeling today?

Extremely excited, we are weeks away from delivery!

The Birth Plan We are lucky we are all able to be in for the delivery. Me, my husband and my dad! Our OBGYN who we love and is super excited for us! After she's born she will go directly to me for skin to skin, and i'm so excited about that moment. How does Aaron Feel through out this journey?

He's been preparing our home for our new little addition since he's been unable to attend any appointments. We film all the ultrasounds so he can watch as well. He's so excited to finally be a dad and everything that comes with it.

My mom was an absolute rockstar through a difficult delivery. The sacrifices she took to bring this little slice of heaven into our world takes my breath away. Holding my daughter in my arms my heart is bursting. The feeling of how I would do absolutely anything needed for this child is radiating through me when I look at her, and reflects back on what my mom did for me. ⁣

Every move and decision I make for my daughter, I’m finding the answers through how my mom raised me. The way she loves and the selflessness she exudes is pure, genuine and kind. ⁣

My mom Julie, and baby Briar are doing fantastic and healthy! I have SO MUCH to share on our birth experience, but right now my husband and I are soaking up these newborn moments! ⁣
