Here are some facts about them: - โ๏ธThey occur when the baby is born in the INTACT amniotic sac โช - โ๏ธThis differs from a ""caul"" birth meaning the baby is born with a part of the amniotic sac covering their face or other body part๐ถ - โ๏ธAlso known as a veiled birth๐ - โ๏ธIt is more common in Caesarean Section births as oppose to vaginal births, due to the mechanism of birth - โ๏ธThey are VERY rare, occurring approximately 1 in every 80,000!๐ฑ - โ๏ธThere is an old folklore surrounding en-caul births, apparently, it is a ""sign of good luck"" if a baby is born en-caul๐ Normally in a vaginal birth when your ""water breaks"" so does the en-caul! In a C-Section, they may also break the amniotic sac before bringing baby out into the world! Depends on the providers. I've seen some pretty cool En-Caul birth videos that were facilitated by the provider.๐ฉโโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ๐จโโ๏ธ Despite it looking pretty crazy for a baby to be born en-caul, it is safe! The baby who comes out en-caul is still getting all the oxygen they need from the umbilical cord which they are still attached to! โจ Shared from #empoweredwombsister @beforethebirth #childbirtheducation #birtheducation #pregnancy #thewombsisterhood #cbe #doula #empowerment #encaul #birthohotography
