Doulas in Hospital settings:
We often see conversations where doulas are “volunteering out” of supporting clients in hospitals, or where some doulas choose to step back to avoid witnessing medical abuse. While protecting ourselves emotionally is important, what does that leave for the families we serve? Esp in homebirth transfer scenarios?
At The Faith-Driven Doula Training, our approach is different: we equip doulas to educate, prepare, and empower families so that they can navigate hospitals with confidence and prevent trauma before it happens.
This isn’t about telling families to just “advocate for themselves” or warning them about what could go wrong.
It’s about giving them real tools, knowledge, and faith-driven guidance so they can:
Understand the hospital system and typical interventions
Anticipate scenarios and plan responses
