Hello!! My name is Amie Bogart and I am the Founder and Owner of Dove & Lioness Doula Services! I am a sucker for origin stories, so I wanted to share mine briefly with you! I wanted to get into the birth-work field after watching a doula live stream her home-birth on TikTok. I though it was so incredible the way that she listened and moved intuitively with her body and baby, and left the birth in the Hands of the Lord.

Watching that took me back to the years I was growing up and we would be on Foal Watch for my
neighbors pregnant mares and the farm where I worked. We were held to a strict “no interruption” protocol, so much so that we had cameras set up within their stalls so we could watch them from buildings away.

That’s when it hit me. WHY IN THE WORLD are we treating women in labor the way that we do??? Horses are constantly up and down, walking, changing position, being left alone, hands-off... but with humans, we are all up in her business because somehow, someone else knows better than the mother who is actually laboring.

I operate on my insane passion for birth and women. The education, preparation and then the “game day” feeling is indescribable, and my passion for Birth Photography has made this even more monumental. I feel truly blessed for the births I have been to, and the lives I have seen changed.
